Mr. William Butler turned 106 years "young" on January 29th.
In our small "town" everyone knows and loves Mr. Butler. Mr. Butler does have a very unique nick name that everyone calls him by but I out of respect would never allow my children to address him by anything other than Mr. Butler! He was a fixture at our "local store" (read country store where you get your gas, lunch, hair cut and mail all in the same long building) where he worked everyday way into his late 90's. He greeted everyone with a warm smile and wave and always had a minute to stop and talk to the little ones. He no longer works at "the Store" (guess he finally decided it was time to retire) but we think of him often and hope is his well.
Here is a link to a story in The Washington Post that featured Mr. Butler sharing his life story with some students back in March of 2008 when he was a mere 104 years old.
Happy Birthday Mr Butler! It just isn't the same without seeing you down at The Bryantown Store everyday.
